JOB SUMMARY: 

The Team Lead will act as the crew’s point of contact, driving daily operations, coaching team members, and maintaining high standards across all production activities.

  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the production crew, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor completion of work assignments.
  • Serve as the primary resource and point of contact for team members during the shift.
  • Provide on-the-floor coaching, training, mentoring, and performance feedback to promote skill development and teamwork.
  • Review production schedules and priorities and adjust staffing resources to meet production goals.
  • Monitor workflow, cycle times, scrap rates, downtime, and staffing needs, implementing solutions to improve performance.
  • Enforce company policies, safety regulations, PPE requirements, and quality standards consistently.
  • Promote a safe work environment by identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
  • Verify quality checks are completed and ensure operators follow standard work instructions.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, and Warehouse teams to resolve issues and maintain production flow.
  • Communicate clearly with management regarding crew performance, production issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead shift start-up, hand-off, and communication activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in problem-solving and waste reduction efforts.
  • Scan finished product and ensure required production documentation is completed accurately.
  • Maintain accurate records related to attendance, training, production metrics, quality, incidents, and corrective actions.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Proven experience in a leadership or senior operator role within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, safety standards, and quality requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational abilities
  • High school diploma or GED required, additional technical or leadership training a plus
  • Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including overtime as needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and internet navigation.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands, work environment factors and mental functions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand, stoop, twist, climb and repetitively perform tasks for long periods of time (8 to 12 hours).
  • Able to bend the body forward and downward while bending at the spine at the waist 45 degrees or more; bending below the waist or down toward an object on or near the ground.
  • Able to work around hot molds, presses, cranes, and industrial equipment and work in tight spaces.
  • Able to use hands and fingers to seize, hold, grasp objects.
  • Ability to extend arms with the hands higher than the head; reaching at or below shoulder level.
  • Ascend or descend ramps and/or stairs using feet and legs.
  • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (machinery alarms, medical codes, or warnings). Work frequently in close proximity to machinery; noise levels are moderate.
  • Close vision (distance of 20 inches or less) and ability to identify/distinguish colors.
  • Hands-on role 60-80% of the time, with mixture of desk and computer duties.
  • Temperature in facility can vary up to 90 degrees. Candidates must be able to perform duties in hot and cold environments.
