General Summary of Duties
Assists with community outreach and education, from youth to adults, media and public relations, event management, and community partnership. This position will assist with efforts to find new opportunities to assist and promote the overall goals of SCU to deepen member relationships and increase our growth.
Essential Job Functions
- Keeps Director of Marketing informed of any opportunities, best practices, and challenges.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with outside vendor contacts.
- Assist with research and discover new opportunities to enhance and cultivate meaningful relationships within the communities SCU serves to increase brand awareness.
- Represent the Credit Union at employee benefit fairs, chamber events, staff meetings, seminars etc. hosted by businesses and community partners explaining membership, products and services, and benefits of membership.
- Organize community involvement initiatives and volunteer opportunities for branch locations in partnership with branch managers and leaders that align with organization goals.
- Coordinate community events, on-site community visits and seminars including registration, staffing, booth display, ordering items, event follow up, presentations & curriculum development.
- Assist Director of Marketing to coordinate additional SCU staff volunteers for events, when appropriate
- Assure that SCU's mission, values and presence are communicated effectively to current members and prospective members through community outreach initiatives.
- Assist with the development and management of the credit union’s social media profiles and presence on any channels that may be deemed relevant. Uses social media heavily to promote activities related to community relations and business development efforts. Works closely with the Marketing team to execute.
- Update Community Involvement, Financial Education and Community Calendar on SCU website regularly including creating & publishing social media events, Blog posts.
- Plan and draft promotional materials in various formats with the Marketing team. When necessary, write blogs, press releases, and other forms of public communication to advertise events and credit union celebrations.
- Maintain a calendar of events and special occasions and communicate with appropriate team members on community involvement.
- Assist with planning for important credit union themed days/weeks/months, including International Credit Union Day, Reading Month, etc.
- Assist with the SCU Scholarship Program, including fundraising efforts, to sustain the scholarship fund. Work with our Marketing Department to advertise our Scholarship Program to potential awardees.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Maintain knowledge of and follow the established process for key control, security, and the security of all codes and procedures related to office security. Open and close office by disarming and arming alarms, as established procedures require.
- Maintain total working knowledge of department. Complete necessary logs.
- Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of credit union policies/procedures that are necessary for performing job duties, including but not limited to Negotiable Instrument Reference & Guidelines, NACHA, BSA, and OFAC.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: A two-year college degree in Marketing, Business, or relevant field.
- Experience: One to three years of marketing, community-focused outreach, or customer service in a credit union or similar environment.
