Flex Nurse- CMA or LPN
Description

At Southeastern Cardiology the Flex Nurse plays a versatile and critical role in supporting clinic operations and ensuring high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for a wide range of duties, including triaging patients telephonically, managing medication refills, and completing prior authorizations and other patient-related paperwork. The Flex Nurse also acts as an EMR support liaison, preps charts in advance of visits, and supports physicians and mid-levels with various documentation needs. This role requires an active CMA or LPN license and is essential for maintaining efficient patient flow and effective communication across all departments. 

 

Flex Nurse Responsibilities 

  • Provides nursing care to patients and as delegated by assigned supervisor and/or provider to meet the needs of the patient/family  
  • Collects data and information to assist the clinical team and/or the provider in patient assessment and care planning which includes but is not limited to: 
  • Triaging patients telephonically 
  • Acts as an EMR support liaison and maintains communication logs 
  • Providing support for non-urgent patient education (e.g., heart failure diets, device instructions, etc) 
  • Communicating internally & externally through telephone encounters & actions 
  • Medication Refills 
  • Follow Up Needs 
  • Normal Result Reporting 
  • Reviewing documents 
  • Reviewing provider schedule and prepping charts in advance of visits 
  • Tracking incoming consult reports, imaging, and lab results for completion 
  • Reviewing hospital/clinical records 
  • Prioritizing tasks 
  • Completing patient assistance, all FMLA, disability paperwork, prior authorizations, insurance appeals, etc. and communicating with patients  
  • Delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, as well as in accordance with policies and procedures of the office 
  • Participates in teamwork 
  • Supports mid-levels and physicians with documentation needs; to include, order entry, letters, and referrals 
  • Effectively and respectfully communicates with other departments of the office 
  • Demonstrates cardiac related knowledge and appropriately applies knowledge to patient care 
  • Assisting in closing care gaps and ensuring following up for abnormal findings 
  • Assisting in the onboarding of new patients 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as computer/electronic medical record systems skills 
  • Exhibit an ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting 
  • Monitoring clinic pace and flow anticipating delays or issues and assisting where needed 
  • Independently completes assignments in a timely manner 
Requirements

 Education and Qualifications 

  • Holds/maintains active CMA license or holds/maintains active LPN license, active in Georgia  
  • Holds/maintains a current MA certification and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) 
  • Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience, preferably in outpatient setting with working cardiac knowledge preferred
