Description

The Vice President of Operations is a senior executive responsible for leading and integrating all aspects of manufacturing operations across VMC Group’s facilities. This role drives operational excellence, safety, quality, and on-time delivery while ensuring alignment with strategic growth, customer commitments, and enterprise planning systems. The VP of Operations will oversee production, supply chain coordination, plant performance, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites. This leader will play a critical role in advancing ERP-enabled operations (Epicor/Kinetic), strengthening S&OP discipline, and scaling manufacturing capacity to support both standard and engineered-to-order product lines.


Key Responsibilities Not Limited To:


Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations across multiple sites (production, assembly, fabrication, and support functions) 
  • Develop and execute operational strategy aligned with corporate growth, margin, and delivery objectives 
  • Establish scalable processes to support engineered-to-order and high-mix production environments 
  • Partner with executive leadership on long-term capacity planning and footprint optimization 

Production & Plant Management

  • Oversee plant managers and manufacturing leadership teams 
  • Ensure production schedules are executed efficiently and aligned with ERP-driven demand planning 
  • Drive improvements in throughput, cycle time, utilization, and on-time delivery performance 
  • Implement standard work and operational KPIs across facilities 

Supply Chain & S&OP Integration

  • Partner closely with supply chain and planning leadership to ensure material availability and production alignment 
  • Lead and mature Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes 
  • Ensure ERP accuracy and discipline across production, inventory, and scheduling functions 
  • Support demand-driven planning using Epicor Kinetic 

Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing

  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives 
  • Identify and eliminate waste across production and administrative processes 
  • Drive standardization across plants while enabling flexibility for custom engineering requirements 
  • Lead capital improvement planning and ROI analysis for operational investments 

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, OSHA standards, and internal policies 
  • Maintain high-quality manufacturing standards and continuous improvement in defect reduction 
  • Support audit readiness and regulatory compliance across all facilities 

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and lead high-performing operations teams across multiple sites 
  • Develop succession plans and strengthen leadership pipeline within operations 
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and performance excellence 

Financial & Performance Management

  • Own operational P&L performance in partnership with finance leadership 
  • Manage labor efficiency, overhead costs, scrap, and material utilization 
  • Deliver measurable improvements in EBITDA contribution through operational execution 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA preferred) 
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in manufacturing operations 
  • 5+ years in senior leadership (Director or VP level) in a multi-site environment 
  • Strong experience in engineered-to-order or custom manufacturing environments 
  • Proven expertise in ERP-driven operations (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems) 
  • Deep knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies 
  • Experience leading S&OP or IBP processes in a manufacturing setting
