The Compensation & Benefits Manager leads the design, implementation, and administration of total rewards programs for a multi-state workforce of hourly and salaried employees. This role ensures competitive, compliant compensation and benefits aligned with business goals. 


Key Responsibilities:

Compensation 

  • Develop and manage pay programs across multiple states 
  • Establish salary bands, wage structures, and incentive plans 
  • Ensure compliance with FLSA and state/local wage laws 
  • Conduct benchmarking and maintain internal equity 

Benefits 

  • Administer and optimize multi-state benefits programs, including a self-funded medical plan 
  • Manage vendors (TPAs, brokers, PBMs) and oversee renewals 
  • Monitor claims, utilization, and cost-control strategies 
  • Lead open enrollment and employee communications 

Leave & Payroll Support 

  • Oversee leave programs (FMLA, state laws, disability) and benefits continuation 
  • Partner with payroll on multi-state compliance, taxes, and deductions 

M&A Integration 

  • Support due diligence and integrate compensation and benefits programs 
  • Align pay practices, benefits, and vendors across acquired entities 
  • Lead communication and ensure compliance during transitions 

Compliance & Strategy 

  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, etc.) 
  • Conduct pay equity analysis and reporting 
  • Partner with leadership on total rewards strategy and workforce trends 

Employee Support 

  • Advise leaders and employees on pay, benefits, and leave programs 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred 
  • 5–10 years of compensation/benefits experience 
  • Experience with salary structures and multi-state compliance 
  • Self-funded medical plan and M&A experience preferred 

Skills: 

  • Expertise in wage & hour laws and total rewards programs 
  • Strong analytical, vendor management, and communication skills
