Job Summary

 Under general supervision, works with a variety of materials to fabricate new parts, equipment, construction elements, etc. Skillful handling of many types of metal as well as numerous fabrication tools Safely inspects materials, equipment, and test welds checking for durability as well as meeting specified standards. Will inspect and examine equipment to determine if repair is needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of welding equipment and workshop safety protocols. Ability to study and interpret assembly instructions, fabricate and assemble structural metal products, read and interpret blueprints and sketches, and interpret measurements. Ability to read and follow a product data sheet, specs sheet, and other product informational material. Ability to execute basic welding techniques. Ability to operate equipment, including but not limited to lathes, mills, drill press, press brakes, shears, and cutting tables. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be highly motivated and able to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to work under pressure effectively. Demonstrates strong customer focus skills, effective documentation, teamwork, and communication skills. Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills. 


Education, Training, and Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Must be at least 18 years old with two years’ experience in fabricating metal and welding, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with common welding tools, MIG, TIG, including metal fabricating, grinding, and finishing metals. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform in the position may be considered. 


Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

· Conducts all business in a professional, respectful manner and in accordance with Digging & Rigging Inc.’s policies and procedures and outlined in the Compact of Respect.· Fabricates and manufactures metal parts in accordance with product data sheets and in compliance with all applicable standards of safety and performance.· Uses measuring tools to inspect equipment that includes structures and/or materials, finds causes and errors, along with other problems or defects.· Repairs metal components to restore full functionality.· Tests welds to ensure strength and tolerance.· Lays out cutting lines.· Operates equipment, including but not limited to lathes, mills, drill press, press brakes, shears, and cutting tables.· Solves problems and develops innovative solutions to novel situations that require a fresh approach while still maintaining required standards of safety, stability, and security.· Maintains tools and equipment to a professional standard. Keeps workstation clean and orderly to retain a safe and operational work environment. · Coordinates workflow with other members of the team and third-party agents.· Executes welds in a professional manner, examines work pieces for defects, and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.· Works independently or with a small team of other welders to complete large and complex projects.· Manages workflow, meets deadlines, and troubleshoots problems on a daily basis, in addition to fabrication duties. Performs physical activities that require the use of arms and legs such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
Special Requirements

· Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, and airborne particles with a moderate noise level.

· Uses physical strength and endurance to complete all welding tasks.

· Wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Must be reliable, punctual, and able to function at a high level as part of a team.

· Must be able to pass a background check, drug test, and DOT physical
