Lab Operations Specialist

Position Summary

Trico is adding a full-time, on-site position to our Oil Analysis Laboratory team – a Lab Operations Specialist. This is not a laboratory testing role. We are seeking a highly organized professional who excels at coordinating activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring important operational and compliance requirements are completed on time. This role helps keep the laboratory running efficiently by supporting purchasing, equipment maintenance, quality systems, inventory management, and vendor relationships.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate laboratory operations activities such as purchasing, inventory management, equipment servicing, calibration, preventive maintenance, and vendor communications.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quality systems, training, competency, equipment maintenance, safety, environmental compliance, and laboratory operations.
  • Monitor schedules, deadlines, and recurring requirements to ensure laboratory activities are completed on time and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Work closely with Lab Technicians, the Quality Manager, vendors, and service providers to support efficient and compliant laboratory operations.
  • Assist with sourcing initiatives, vendor evaluations, equipment research, and budgeting activities.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining organized, accurate, and readily accessible records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve laboratory organization, administrative processes, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide backup support for selected laboratory and customer support activities as business needs require.
Requirements

Qualified candidates must have:

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in operations coordination, purchasing, quality administration, laboratory support, manufacturing support, or a similar role.
  • Experience maintaining records within a quality management system, regulated environment, or document control system.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to coordinate activities and build effective working relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and other business software applications used for communication, scheduling, and record management.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use ERP, quality management, document control, and other business systems.
  • Experience organizing and maintaining records within SharePoint or similar document management systems preferred.
  • Ability to perform a combination of office and laboratory support activities, including receiving and stocking supplies and maintaining laboratory inventory.
