Title: Human Resources Generalist
Position Description:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a pivotal role in managing day-to-day people operations and driving HR strategies for designated teams, including the fast-paced logistics operations. This role will champion the full employee lifecycle including leading efforts across talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, training, and offboarding, while ensuring seamless execution of core HR functions like safety, payroll support, benefits, workers' compensation, etc. This role will ensure compliance to federal and state regulations while utilizing HR data analytics to improve systems with actionable workforce insights. This position is ideal for an agile, energetic HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing hands-on operational execution with strategic business partnership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary HR partner to designated departments by providing full employee life cycle support including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, safety, leave administration and offboarding.
- Build strong, proactive partnerships across teams to foster open communication, improve team morale, and deliver tailored HR solutions.
- Partner with managers as a trusted advisor to optimize organizational structures, drive talent development, and ensure smooth change management.
- Lead various people, business operations, and organizational development initiatives as needed.
- Perform other related projects and duties as assigned.
Talent Acquisition:
- Execute the full lifecycle recruiting processes including creating job descriptions, reviewing resumes, conducting phone screens, coordinating interviews, extending offers, and advising and engaging with hiring managers through each stage of the process.
- Conduct new employee orientation to engage new employees and assimilate them into the Company.
Policy & Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance across assigned departments and businesses.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and execution of human resource policies and procedures, as well as acting as the primary contact for general questions and support on company policies and procedures.
Employee Relations:
- Assist managers and employees in the resolution of employee performance and conduct issues; provide counseling to employees as appropriate. Advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues and be present during certain meetings.
- Assist with investigations of sexual harassment allegations, discrimination charges, disputes and other sensitive issues.
Learning & Development:
- Recommend, plan, and execute training programs for teams based on identified gaps or needs and maintain training records.
- Support the delivery of employee training related to compliance, interviewing, labor laws, sexual harassment, safety, etc.
- Participate in safety committee and support safety initiatives as needed including training initiatives.
Benefits:
- Administer benefit programs including annual open enrollment, new hire benefit selection, COBRA, and communicating with plan administrators.
Payroll:
- Support the payroll process as needed including approving and auditing timecards, obtaining approvals from managers, and timely and accurate completion of all reporting procedures.
HRIS & Data Analysis:
- Track, analyze, and interpret key HR metrics (e.g., turnover trends, time-to-hire, employee engagement scores) to provide leadership with actionable insights and recommendations.
- Manage and maintain the integrity of the HRIS system and employee data, and lead the build of additional system capabilities as needed to support the business
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-6 years of HR generalist or HR business partner experience required
- 2+ years’ experience in full cycle recruiting required
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or HR certification a plus
- Must be proficient in HRIS systems, preferably Paylocity
- Proven ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Possess thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to labor and employment, as well as hiring and recruitment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize projects in a fast-paced business environment, manage time effectively, proactively problem solve, and deliver detailed solutions.
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and high level of discretion handling sensitive employee information.
- Highly effective in planning, time management and critical decision-making.
- Strong ability to operate in ambiguity and work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be Proficient in Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
