I. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing direct advocacy, follow up, resources and referral services to current and former residents of Women’s Advocates. In addition, the Housing Stability Advocate is responsible for providing home visits, including assessments, goal planning, safety planning, connecting families to culturally responsive community resources, and coordinating services to establish a continuum of services to assist them in transitioning back into the community. This position works at Women’s Advocates and in the community to increase housing options for DV victim-survivors.
We are looking to hire 2 Housing Stability Advocates. These are full-time, benefits eligible positions. The schedule is typically 9am - 5pm, with the requirement to work on site Tues, Weds & Thurs. The budgeted pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour worked.
II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Coordinates and provides referrals for housing support.
· Researches, organizes, and prioritizes housing and advocacy services.
· Educates staff on housing resources and referral process, keeping up with changes as they occur.
· Provides case management, including individual advocacy, counseling, legal, medical, financial, housing, emergency assistance, transportation, family support, and educational resources.
· Assists with job readiness, employment search, budgeting, and childcare assistance.
· Provides crisis intervention and safety planning.
· Maintains contact with each program participant to track stability and provide needed services.
· Maintains safety in the field when meeting with the participant in their home, when feasible, or out in the community.
· Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with providers of housing including landlords of rental properties, subsidized housing programs, transitional housing programs and more.
· Collects and maintains accurate information on all participants, documents all pertinent information. Inputs all data into the client data base including demographic, case notes, assessments, and outcome measurements.
· In collaboration with Women’s Advocates outreach team, trains landlords in DV and trains Shelter Advocacy staff on housing.
· Partners with the Manager of Housing Stability Services in supporting evaluation design, data collection/analysis and program development of our Housing Stability Program.
· Works in collaboration with outside entities regarding housing advocacy.
· Facilitates a weekly support group focusing on housing stability.
· Other duties as assigned.
· At least 3 years of experience assisting families with housing support and community resources.
· Strong knowledge of housing resources in the metro area.
· Minimum of three years working in a community-based, diverse organization with knowledge of Ramsey County community resources.
· Three to five years of experience working with vulnerable individuals, families and children.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Good computer skills with demonstrated ability in Microsoft office products and database entry.
- Must be able to safeyl navigate multiple stairways throughout the workday to access work areas and perform essential job duties.
· Ability to prioritize, handle a variety of tasks and be self-directed.
· Ability to handle client, administrative and personnel information with complete confidentiality.
· Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to intercultural development and anti-racism work in the workplace.
· Commitment to actively contributing to the organization being a safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community.
· Valid driver’s license with current insurance and a reliable motor vehicle.
· Criminal background check is required for this position.
