Job Summary:
The Facilities Manager is to provide direction of the running of campus facilities and create a safe and efficient work environment for maintenance personnel and all other staff of St. Mary. The Manager will also oversee projects and ongoing maintenance requirements in accordance with the parish needs, goals, and objectives. The Facilities Manager needs to have leadership skills, a positive attitude, be organized and flexible, to attend to multiple concerns involving both staff, volunteers, and their working environment. The Facilities Manager is tasked with overseeing maintenance, custodial and grounds keeping operations, managing maintenance and custodial budget, directing routine maintenance, responding to emergencies, managing contractors, overseeing security system, and conducting routine site inspections for cleanliness. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to all staffing positions, volunteers, and parishioners and thereby engages in ministry for the parish and school.
Ministerial Character
The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish of St. Mary's Catholic Church which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Positions employed at St. Mary's Catholic Church help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
Essential Job Duties:
• Supports and manages 3 maintenance staff
• Plans and maintains the annual budget for all contractor agreements and projects.
• Creates, executes, and maintains Work Order processes and procedures.
• Coordinate with Business Manager to maintain paper goods for kitchen and specific facility supplies.
• Identify monthly purchase amounts for janitorial supplies.
• Work closely with Pastor and Business Manager on budgetary items
• Coordinate and oversee contractors.
• Create and oversee annual, monthly, and weekly maintenance needs.
• Create and oversee annual, monthly, and daily custodial maintenance.
• Undertaking building and grounds maintenance
• Oversee refurbishment and renovation projects.
• Create and maintain HVAC needs and repairs.
• Inspecting and repairing electrical and plumbing services
• Attend weekly staff meetings
• Teamwork with all parish and school staff
• Special Projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of work order processes.
• Ability to multitask.

• Ability to create and manage budgets.
• Ability to develop long term and short-term plans.
• Ability to perform minor irrigation, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
Administrative:
• Knowledge of personnel policies and procedures including labor law requirements.
• Working knowledge of computers
• Ability to supervise leadership and administrative positions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with volunteers.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and aid parish staff, volunteers, and parishioners as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Trainings:
• 5+ years of maintenance/facilities management experience
Language:
• English (proficient in conversing, reading, and writing)
• Spanish (proficient in conversing, reading, and writing). Preferred but not required.
Licenses/Certifications:
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Must be certified in Diocese of Austin EIM within 90 days of employment and maintain certification throughout the employment period.
Working Conditions:
• All employees of the parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church and school.
• The parish is an at-will employer.
• Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
• Working on weekends, evenings and some holidays may be required.
• Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct and speech including Roman Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.
• Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
• May be required to use personal or parish vehicles to drive to parishes or other off-site locations.
• Travelling within and outside the parish to meetings and other events may be required, and travel may include overnight lodging.
