Description

We are looking for a compassionate and team-oriented Mental Health Professional to join our Clinical Services Team. The Child and Adolescent Counselor provides individual and group counseling services to children and adolescents affected by domestic violence and/or sexual assault. The ideal candidate would have training and experience in Play Therapy. This position requires ongoing availability on Saturdays and at least two evenings per week to meet the needs of the families we serve.


Reports to: Child and Adolescent Clinical Services Coordinator

Supervises: Assigned Interns and Volunteers


Primary Functions:

  • Provide individual and weekly group counseling services to children and adolescent affected by domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Meet with parents/guardians of child/adolescent clients for intakes and parent consults as necessary
  • Prepare and maintain a service plan with each client
  • Ensure appropriate and current information and referrals are provided to clients
  • Maintain client files and records with confidentiality and accurate and complete documentation
  • Collect and report statistical data reflecting the services provided
  • Clean and organize play therapy/activity room in preparation for next child/adolescent client.
  • Provide supervision for masters level interns.
  • Participate in DCFOF staff and education meetings as requested.

Requirements


Prerequisites:

  • Masters Degree in Counseling, Psychology or related field
  • Current licensure (LPC-Associate, LPC, LMFT-Associate, LMFT, LMSW, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist) required
  • Formal Play Therapy coursework and experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of relationship violence and sexual assault
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impact of trauma in childhood
  • Saturday and evening availability

Preferences:

  • Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Ability to easily climb stairs
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Salary Description
$50,000 - $55,000
