Job Description

The Production Planner is integral to the smooth functioning of the Supply Shain and Manufacturing/Assembly departments. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of inventory management, data analysis, interdepartmental coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include establishing the manufacturing and assembly schedules, determining resource requirements and identifying bottlenecks, setting production targets, managing inventory levels and targets, and reporting on production status to management.

Responsibilities

  •  Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, demand forecasts, and inventory levels. 
  •  Monitor raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock, collaborating with procurement and shipping to ensure timely deliveries.
  •  Estimate material and capacity needs for production runs. Coordinate directly with manufacturing and assembly leadership to help assign resources effectively to meet production targets.
  •  Identify bottlenecks based on product mix to optimize production flow. 
  •  Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure products meet quality standards. Communicate with Procurement to elevate raw material issues and constraints immediately.
  •  Track production metrics like output, efficiency, and scrap to identify areas for improvement. This will include development and upkeep of reports on production status, performance metrics, etc.
  •  Work closely with various departments including sales, procurement/supply chain, shipping/receiving, manufacturing, and quality to ensure smooth production flow. 
  •  Work with ERP system to utilize all tools available; address accuracy-related systemic issues and data management to ensure alignment of physical inventory with system records. 
  •  Participate in initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency and productivity, implementing best practices.
  •  Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Qualifications

  •  Must be a U.S. Citizen due to ITAR regulations.
  •  Must demonstrate good organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
  •  Proficient computer skills including strong MS Office Suite needed.
  •  Ability to learn, understand, and develop BOMs, Routings, and workflows.
  •  3+ yrs production planning/scheduling experience using MRP/ERP programs. Netsuite experience preferred.
  •  Able to lift 50 lbs. on occasion.
  •  Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, including working in and around moving parts, chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
  •  Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the duration of the work schedule.
