Description

The Senior Mortgage Loan Processor manages a pipeline of mortgage applications, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with FNMA, regulatory, and credit union guidelines. This role serves as a key liaison between members, loan originators, and internal partners, proactively resolving issues to meet processing and closing deadlines. The Senior Processor reviews and validates documentation, submits clean loan packages to underwriting, clears conditions efficiently, and supports team success through mentorship and process improvements.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  •  Maintains proactive communication with loan originators, members, and internal partners to resolve issues and provide updates.
  • Manages loan pipeline to meet service level agreements, processing timelines, and closing deadlines.
  • Reviews applications to ensure alignment with FNMA, regulatory, and credit union guidelines.
  • Communicates with applicants and members to request and clarify required loan documentation.
  • Obtains, reviews, and validates borrower documentation (income, assets, credit, collateral) for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares and submits complete, compliant loan packages to underwriting for approval.
  • Submits clean, well-documented files to underwriting and efficiently clears conditions.
  • Provides mentorship and workflow support to processors, contributing to team efficiency and process improvements.

Salary:

$24.69 – $30.86 per hour

New hires are typically brought in between the range minimum and maximum based on qualifications, internal equity, and budget.

Requirements

Experience: 

Three years to five years of similar or related experience.


Education: 

A high school education or GED.


Interpersonal Skills: 

Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Physical Requirements: 

This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods while operating a computer and other office equipment. Manual dexterity is needed for typing, using a mouse, and handling documents. The role may involve occasional reaching, bending, or manipulating objects, as well as light lifting of up to 15 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity are required for reading documents, creating content, and communicating effectively. Work Environment: 

Work is primarily performed in a professional office setting.
