Description

  

U.S.COST is seeking Senior Mechanical Construction Cost Estimators to join our team to provide conceptual and definitive estimating of mechanical systems, plumbing, and related controls for large infrastructure and transportation projects. We are a leader in providing project controls related services across all verticals within the construction and EPC/M industry. The ideal candidate will become part of team that is setting new standards in Project Delivery for industry in applying new methods and new technology to create innovative and value-added results to every step of the process.


Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full estimates on large and complex projects as required by client's documents as well as from stakeholder interviews and site investigations
  • Analyze and negotiate contractor change orders and claims on behalf of the client
  • Consult with clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effect cost reductions, and resolve issues
  • Support the development of energy and sustainability analysis
  • Direct, supervise, and review the work of early career estimators
  • Conduct cost estimate reconciliations through comparative analysis and present variances effectively
  • Adhere to all policies related to the handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
  • Perform miscellaneous other job-related duties when assigned, which may include value engineering and progress review conferences


Requirements

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Ability to develop estimates at multiple phases from design through construction
  • Knowledge of, and proficiency in discipline-related systems
  • Four-year degree in a related field is preferred but not required
  • Ten (10) years of experience is required in the estimating field or in a related area which may include construction field engineering, contracting, claims and other industries relating to estimating.
  • Experience with large infrastructure, healthcare, datacenter and/or aviation projects 
  • At least three (3) years’ experience with a contractor during the construction phase of a project is strongly desired. 
  • Proficiency with MS365 applications
  • Skilled at leveraging technology and resource-loaded estimating platforms to develop accurate, data-driven cost estimates
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in the production of deliverables and in interactions with fellow employees and clients
