Description

As part of the Trading team, the Middle Distillates Trader will be responsible for a variety of activities related to refined products trading, including but not limited to working with the Global team on cargo arbitrage between international pricing centers, developing market share for Unipec in the Americas import/export flows, identifying strategic opportunities in the regional futures and swap markets, and facilitating physical and financial information related to the Global team’s trading activities. 


Responsibilities:

  • Managing Middle Distillates physical trades, market risks, and global arbitrage desks coordination.
  • Responsible for Middle Disty trades positions and PNL calculation report.
  • Develop business, including evaluation and development of new opportunities for Middle Disty trades.
  • Report market intel and industry trends and analysis to add value to the company.
  • Identify and recommend innovative strategies to deliver marketing solutions to maximize value under all market conditions.
  • Coordinate product trading with shipping, operations, and other middle back-office functions. 
  • Remain current on the legal and economic issues affecting the hydrocarbon industry.
  • Work closely with compliance to ensure Unipec and counterparties abide by all trade restrictions and applicable laws and regulations. 
  • Perform all these activities to company standards within a highly controlled environment governed by external regulatory requirements as well as internal controls.
  • Report financial gains/losses accurately, promptly, and in compliance with the company’s reporting framework.
  • Ensure that all financial discrepancies or losses are documented with supporting evidence and communicated to management.
  • Ensure that all data and operational inputs are accurate, timely, and standardized across systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field. 
  • 5+ years of experience in petroleum products trading, preferably in Middle Distillates trading.
  • Strong knowledge of the US Gulf Coast and Latin America Markets.
  • Strong knowledge of managing storage facilities.
  • Knowledge of the global biodiesel market is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Gulf Coast Refinery Production and Import Flows.
  • Experience in contract negotiations and problem-solving skills is required.
  • Previous experience working in a multicultural/multilingual corporate environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in market risk management instruments.
  • Demonstrating ability to work in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments.
  • Experience working with trading software and Microsoft Office. 
  • Ability to travel as required, including international travel.
