Associate Director
Description

SUMMARY:    Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director (AD) is responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive array of services and programs. The AD will lead program directors and numerous program models delivered across numerous sites.  S/he will review on an ongoing basis; services being offered and develop new programs as needs emerge. S/he will be responsible for all activities pertaining to the successful implementation of all programming and services.  The AD will inform the Executive Director of all program issues and accomplishments.


The AD is responsible for all program planning, organizing, operating, and staffing. S/he is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the program aspects of the annual budget in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Executive Director. S/he is responsible for ensuring that Axess Family Services is in compliance with all federal, state, funding, and city regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements.


Finally, the AD will assist the Executive Director in planning, organizing, and implementing public and private fundraising initiatives and all capital projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides effective leadership, as well as stewardship, of Axess Family Services by being actively involved in all programs and services. 
  • Implements and leads a continuous quality improvement process throughout the program and service areas, focusing on systems/process improvement. 
  • Promotes regular and ongoing opportunities for all staff to give feedback on program operation.
  • Ensures that all program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of Axess Family Services.
  • Partners with the Executive Director to represent the agency with external constituency groups, including community, governmental, and private organizations as needed.
  • Prepares and submits program annual operational budget to the Executive Director and Director of Finance for review and approval, manages effectively within this budget, and reports accurately on progress made and challenges encountered.
  • Leads a high performing team of program directors and provides assistance with recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
  • Builds financial and in-kind support for programs through grants, local resource development, advisory board activity and community education.  Ensures the continued financial viability of Axess Family Services’ programs through sound fiscal management. 
  • Provides programmatic leadership and input for all strategic planning processes with the Executive Director and staff.
  • Attends agency staff meetings, and staff development activities.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, HRSA requirements, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
  • Represents the organization in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  


Required: 

  • 10 years professional experience with a minimum of 4 years of senior leadership experience supervising staff, operating multiple human services programs. 
  • Background of management, grant writing, budgeting and human resource policy.
  • Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams. 
  • Ability to develop an organization-wide strategy for program excellence, engaging community partners, and partnering with the Executive Director.
  • Demonstrates integrity, strives for excellence in her/his work, and has experience of leading others to new levels of effectiveness and programmatic impact.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation).  

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher (Relevant experience can substitute for educational experience.) 

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Valid, unrestricted State of Ohio driver’s license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). The employee will occasionally be working near moving mechanical parts, be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and exposed to a risk of electrical shock while running the copier, printer, other standard equipment and answering the telephone. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate. Stress level can be high at times.
