Position Summary

The Marine Rigger is responsible for the installation, repair, inspection, and maintenance of yacht rigging systems and related equipment. This role requires strong technical knowledge of standing and running rigging, mast systems, deck hardware, and marine equipment, along with a commitment to safety, precision, and exceptional craftsmanship.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, install, and repair standing and running rigging systems. 
  • Step and unstep masts using proper rigging and crane procedures. 
  • Install and service masts, booms, winches, windlasses, antennas, deck hardware, and associated rigging components. 
  • Install marine hardware including hooks, swivels, shackles, and related equipment.      
  • Fabricate and splice wire rope and synthetic line to produce halyards, reef lines, outhaul assemblies, lazy jacks, lifelines, and other custom rigging. 
  • Bend and remove sails as required. 
  • Perform rigging inspections and evaluate the condition of rigging systems, recommending repairs or replacements when necessary. 
  • Work safely at heights and assist with crane operations while following established safety procedures and hand or verbal communication protocols. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. 
  • Collaborate with technicians and other departments to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to Hinckley's quality standards. 
  • All duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • 3–5 years of marine rigging experience, preferably in a boatyard or yacht service environment. 
  • Strong      understanding of standing and running rigging systems. 
  • Experience stepping and unstepping masts and working aloft. 
  • Proficiency in wire and rope splicing techniques. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and rigging specifications. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials and equipment as required. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
