Description


The Field Service Supervisor – Power Systems leads and supports a team of Field Service Technicians responsible for the startup, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems across customer locations. This position serves as the primary point of escalation for field personnel, providing technical guidance, operational support, and leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.

Regular local travel to customer sites is required. Limited overnight travel may occasionally be necessary based on project demands.


Responsibilities


Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Field Service Technicians and commissioning personnel.

Coordinate daily work assignments, schedules, project priorities, and technician workloads to ensure efficient utilization of resources.

Serve as the primary escalation point for field personnel requiring technical, operational, or customer support.

Conduct regular field visits to monitor work quality, safety compliance, customer interactions, and overall project execution.

Support technicians during startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and energization activities as needed.

Review and approve field service reports, documentation, timesheets, expense reports, and other administrative records.

Assist with workforce planning, staffing recommendations, hiring, onboarding, and training initiatives.

Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions as required.

Promote and enforce compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E requirements, and customer site procedures.

Partner with project managers, customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.

Monitor project progress and address scheduling conflicts, resource constraints, or customer concerns.

Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on service delivery, technician development, safety performance, and operational efficiency.

Maintain positive customer relationships through professional communication and timely resolution of service-related issues.

Assist management with budgeting, forecasting, equipment planning, and departmental operational goals.

Ensure service vehicles, tools, and testing equipment are properly maintained and available for field operations.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Requirements


7+ years of experience in electrical field service, commissioning, testing, maintenance, or power systems operations.

2+ years of leadership, supervisory, lead technician, or team management experience.

Strong working knowledge of medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical power distribution systems.

Experience with switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers (MCCs), protective relays, transformers, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, delegate responsibilities, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings.

Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service management/reporting systems.

Ability to travel locally to support field operations and customer needs.


Preferred Qualifications


NETA Certification (Level II, III, or higher) preferred.

Experience supervising field service, commissioning, or electrical testing teams.

Journeyman Electrician License preferred.

OEM training or certifications from Siemens, Eaton, Schneider Electric, ABB, or similar manufacturers.

Experience with electrical safety programs and field service operations management.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Systems, Business Management, or related field preferred.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment


This position requires a combination of office and field-based work. The Field Service Supervisor will regularly travel to customer locations, electrical rooms, substations, industrial facilities, and construction sites to support technician activities and project execution.

The role requires standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, bending, and working in industrial and outdoor environments. The ability to safely lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.

The position requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc-flash protective clothing, safety footwear, hard hats, and other site-specific safety equipment.
