Job description:

This position requires a rotating schedule, including weekend availability. Shifts typically range from 5:00 AM (earliest start) to 6:30 PM (latest end), depending on program needs.

Minimum Requirements:

Food service experience as a cook or chef is required. Must have or obtain, as a condition of employment, required food service certifications. Must be able and willing to support the mission of Lydia Home Association (LHA). Must be organized and have a warm, welcoming and engaging personality. Ability to lift 50 pound boxes and carry up/downstairs

Function:

Ensure smooth functioning of the kitchen and the serving of 60 nutritious and appealing meals 3x/day for children who live at Lydia Home, keeping in compliance with all regulations. Cook at least one meal daily. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen work environment. Routinely introduce new foods and tastes to enhance life-long healthy eating.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to plan menus and cook nutritious and appealing meals for up to 60 people
  • Proficiency with email and web use to order food and supplies
  • Ensure and help with general kitchen cleaning
  • Keep control of inventory and receiving food service orders
  • Able to unload trucks and carry cases of food downstairs
  • Collaborate with residential leadership
  • Other duties as assigned

$20/hour
