Description
- Prepares patient samples, including grossing, tissue processing, tissue sectioning, and routine staining.
- Performs immunohistochemical staining of tissue sections using automated immuno-stainers.
- Performs whole slide imaging of stained slides using automated slide scanner.
- Performs minor equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
- Ensures safety in the histology laboratory by adhering to Department specific guidelines.
- Ensures proper handling and disposal of sharps containers and biohazardous lab waste.
- Adheres to the CAP, CLIA and NYS regulations.
- Completes instrument maintenance logs.
- Provides Quality Department with required performance metrics.
- Adheres to Department Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements
- Minimum of 5-7 years of histology experience within an anatomic pathology laboratory. Background in breast cancer diagnostics a plus.
- Significant Histology and IHC experience required in a clinical laboratory. Prior experience using Imaging platforms is a plus.
- Preferred certification as ASCP QIHC.
- Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively.
- Effective communication with colleagues and management.
- Able to multi-task to adapt to changing workloads to meet required turnaround times.
