Description

Position Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting financial planning, project performance analysis, and strategic decision-making within an architecture and design environment. Partners with project managers and leadership to ensure financial health of projects and the firm. 



Essential Functions

  • Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. 
  • Analyze project financial performance including revenue, billability, utilization rates, gross margin, and profitability. 
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to leadership. 
  • Develop dashboards and KPI reporting to track firm and project-level performance. 
  • Conduct cost analysis, staffing models, and resource planning to improve efficiency. 
  • Assist with pricing strategies, fee proposals, and contract financial review. 
  • Improve financial systems, tools, and reporting processes. 
  • Ensure data integrity across financial and project management systems. 
  • Collaborate with accounting on month-end close and financial reconciliations. 
  • Support strategic initiatives including growth planning, acquisitions, or operational improvements.
  • Support audits and compliance requirements.
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. 
  • 8+ years of financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting experience, preferably in architecture, engineering, or professional services environment. 
  • Strong understanding of project-based accounting and revenue recognition. 
  • Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, pivot tables, data analysis). 
  • Experience with financial planning tools (Vena, PowerBI or similar) and ERP/project management systems. 
  • Proven ability to analyze large data sets and translate insights into actionable recommendations. 
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present to non-financial stakeholders. 
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Knowledge of KPIs relevant to architecture firms (utilization, realization, backlog, multiplier).
