Job Summary:
The Benefits Sales Executive is responsible for driving sales growth through the development of broker and client relationships, strategic market expansion, and the promotion of employee benefit solutions. This role leverages expertise in self-funded, ASO, and ancillary benefit products to develop tailored sales strategies, create competitive proposals, and identify new business opportunities. This role serves as a market resource, analyzes industry trends, collaborates with internal stakeholders, and consistently achieves sales objectives while delivering exceptional service to brokers, clients, and business partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to drive growth in health benefits and related products
- Accountable for consistently achieving or exceeding personal sales production expectations by having a clear understanding of Administrative Services Only (ASO) and self-funded products and creating and implementing tactical sales strategies.
- Create and present competitive, data-driven proposals for prospective brokers and clients, leveraging stop-loss market insights and cost-benefit analyses to drive sales and client adoption.
- Maintain activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, and proposals.
- Market medical and ancillary products to brokers and employers; formulate plan alternatives and strategies with brokers and clients.
- Create avenues for new business sales from a wide variety of self-developed sources; Actively seek referrals from current client base for new business prospects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to examine market trends and stay ahead of consumer demands.
- Participate in industry events and attend training to cultivate relationships and prospects, maintain knowledge and skill development.
- Represent company by acting as a market leader, sharing thought leadership, and maintaining strong community relationships.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with brokers, carriers, and key stakeholders by leveraging knowledge of territory, providing exceptional service, and identifying opportunities to grow the book of business
- Identify, recommend, and champion process improvements and organizational initiatives to increase sales of product offerings.
- Achieve required industry licensing within 90 days of date of hire and maintain license through completing Continuing Education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, healthcare administration, related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years proven success in exceeding business sales goals in health benefits, preferable in self-funded, ASO markets
- Active required industry licensing or ability to obtain and maintain; license needed within 90 days of hire with company support
- Strong working knowledge of benefits insurance (broker or carrier side) as well as self-funding and stop loss reinsurance market
- Experience explaining third-party, self-insured benefits to include medical, and flexible spending accounts, minimum essential coverage and other ancillary products including types of stop loss insurance.
- Knowledge of methods for promoting sales or services; negotiation and presentation skills including RFP/RFI responses, financial analysis, underwriting collaboration and contract negotiations.
- Ability to create, present and close on marketing plans
- Ability to travel frequently, to client or prospect sites is required. Must have reliable transportation means; a valid driver’s license may be required.
- Solid working knowledge of standard computer applications including MS Word, Excel Outlook, and PowerPoint
