Residential HVAC Service Technician
Description

Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspection on gas furnaces, air handlers, air conditioners, heat pumps, dehumidifiers, humidifiers and make any necessary adjustments. 
  • Maintain good working order of company vehicles including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues, keeping the vehicle clean and organized.
  • Maintain proper truck stock, parts, tools and safety equipment in the vehicle.
  • Understand company pricing and generate appropriate customer invoices at each home. Electronically process credit card payments.
  • Have all required tools for a Level IV Service Technician (See tool list).
  • Travel to service calls and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to the customer.
  • Document all installed equipment: make, model, serial number, type of system and pictures as necessary.
  • Identify potential opportunities: new systems, service agreements, and additional services offered by Estes.
  • Participate in company provided meetings and training.
  • Observe all company procedures and safety rules.
  • Work as part of our team to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Stay up to date on latest trends and codes as it pertains to your job responsibilities.
  • Be able to diagnose refrigerant, capacitor, contactor, and noise issues with all HVAC equipment
  • Be able to diagnose low voltage, high voltage and zoning issues. Be familiar with Greenspeed, and VS units.
  • Be available to work your “On Call” and Saturday schedule.
  • Be available for a minimum of 7 hours of calls booked per day.
  • Customer service skills. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to advise customers of potential issues and suggest upgrades to improve efficiency and indoor air quality products.
  • Must be able to meet schedules and time lines in a timely manner with a strong sense of urgency.


Requirements

Requirements/Education:

  • Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of HVAC field experience required. 5 years preferred.
  • NATE certification preferred.
  • EPA certification required (Type II or universal).
  • Trade School or Tech Builder certification required.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license with clear driving record.
  • Materials, methods and tools used in HVAC.
  • Work independently with little direction.
  • Dress and maintain Estes Services’ proper uniform.

Physical Demands (required):

  • Must be able to work in extreme weather and climate conditions (hot attics, year-round outdoor conditions, etc.)
  • Must be able to stand, crawl, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, reach or climb repeatedly (up to 25 times an hour), or for long periods of time (up to two hours).
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity, exposure to dust, fumes and gases. 
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds unassisted, and lift above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to work in tight, poorly lit and cramped conditions.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and occasionally work at height up to 32 feet.
  • Must be able to execute all of the above functions and meet all of the above demands safely, posing no threat to themselves or those around them while doing so, and must willingly comply with applicable safety regulations in the completion of all work.
