About the Role
As a Technology Solutions Field Engineer (Copier/MFP Technician), you will play a key role in ensuring the optimal performance of our clients’ Multi-Function Printers (MFPs). You’ll perform diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance, assist with installations and connectivity, and provide on-site technical support — all while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
This is a field-based role serving the greater Raleigh area:
Company vehicle provided for field work
Ongoing training and manufacturer certifications preferred but not required
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on MFP devices to ensure timely, efficient service and minimize customer downtime.
- Conduct routine maintenance on MFPs to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in the installation and configuration of MFP devices, with a focus on proper network connectivity for print and scan features.
- Provide on-site technical support to customers, resolving basic issues and escalating complex problems to senior technicians or the Service Manager as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, including parts used, repairs completed, and customer interactions.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety guidelines, and local regulations.
- Stay informed about new models, technologies, and best practices in MFP repair and maintenance.
- Collaborate with team members and the Service Manager to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
- Assist in managing parts inventory by accurately reporting parts usage and needs.
- Provide feedback on recurring issues and opportunities for service improvement.
Training & Development
- Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills, especially in networking/connectivity and MFP repair and maintenance.
- Support senior technicians in training new team members by sharing knowledge gained through experience.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all service calls, including work orders and service reports.
- Manage time effectively to ensure all service calls are completed within assigned time frames.
- Assist with basic territory maintenance and alignment tasks as directed.
Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Qualifications
- Basic certification or training on a full line of manufacturer models (Ricoh, Konica Minolta, HP, Lexmark, etc.) preferred but not required – we will train the right candidate.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation is not required – a company vehicle is provided for field work.
- Solid understanding of network connectivity related to print and scan features, or the aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to perform repairs and maintenance with guidance from senior technicians.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers.
Desirable Qualifications
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365.
- Familiarity with hardware/connectivity technology and terminology.
- Experience with e-Automate or similar service management software (a plus, not required).
Working Conditions
- Environment: Field-based role with frequent travel to customer sites in the Raleigh area.
- Exposures: Moderate noise and occasional exposure to typical office/warehouse hazards.
- Travel: Frequent local travel with occasional out-of-town assignments.
- Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, lifting, and carrying equipment.(Minimum of 40 lbs).
