Position Summary / What You'll Do

As a Land Development Project Manager, you will lead civil site design projects from concept through completion while serving as a trusted point of contact for clients, internal teams, consultants, and permitting agencies. You will help guide project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and communication while supporting RETTEW's continued growth in the Pittsburgh region.

Depending on level, this role may include a blend of hands-on technical review, project delivery, client relationship management, mentoring, proposal support, and leadership of increasingly complex land development assignments.


Responsibilities / Day-to-Day

  • Lead land development projects, including commercial, industrial, residential, mixed-use, municipal, and institutional site development assignments.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations from planning through final approvals.
  • Coordinate civil site design efforts, including grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, utility layout, roadway access, and permitting support.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, surveyors, environmental professionals, subconsultants, and review agencies to move projects forward.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, plans, specifications, permit applications, cost opinions, and project documentation.
  • Serve as a client-facing representative of RETTEW by building strong relationships, communicating clearly, and supporting long-term business opportunities.
  • Mentor junior staff, support quality control, and contribute to a team environment focused on accountability, responsiveness, and technical excellence.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within an agreed-upon timeframe, based on level.
  • Progressive land development, civil site design, or related project delivery experience.
  • Experience with site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, utility coordination, and permitting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate with clients and project teams, and keep work moving against deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal land development requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience managing land development projects in Pennsylvania or the greater Pittsburgh region.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and project management tools.
  • Experience preparing proposals, scopes, budgets, schedules, and client presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and designers or lead technical project teams.
  • Experience supporting business development, client account growth, or municipal and private-sector relationships.
