UROLOGY Pre-Op/PACU RN (Office-Based Surgery Center - PRN/Part-Time)

We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and patient-centered Registered Nurse (RN) to join our perioperative team in a busy office-based urology surgery center. The Pre-Op/PACU RN is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care before and after surgical procedures by ensuring patients are clinically prepared for surgery, safely recover from anesthesia, and receive comprehensive education throughout their surgical experience.


This position offers an excellent work-life balance with a flexible Monday–Thursday schedule and no weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities.


 Essential Job Functions

  • Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments, including reviewing medical history, medications, allergies, and required documentation.
  • Prepare patients for surgery by initiating IV access, administering prescribed medications, and providing preoperative education and support.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the perioperative team to ensure patient readiness and safe surgical care.
  • Monitor patients during Phase I and Phase II recovery, assessing airway, vital signs, pain, and overall recovery from anesthesia.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and postoperative complications.
  • Provide postoperative education, discharge instructions, and safely discharge patients according to established protocols.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized perioperative environment while adhering to infection prevention and patient safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure continuity of care and efficient patient flow.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of Pre-Op/PACU nursing experience preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of urology nursing experience preferred

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, position, and assist patients and move equipment safely.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced office-based surgical environment.
  • Early morning start times may be required.
