General Description:


Reporting to the Global HSES Manager, the Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) Manager is responsible for supporting the execution of Flexsys’ strategic and tactical plan for all HSES matters for the Monongahela, PA site.  The position will work closely with site management and be part of the site leadership team.


This position fosters a culture of engagement, leadership and exposure reduction through direction and oversight of programs that support Flexsys’ primary goal of a compliant and incident free workplace.


The HSES Manager plans and directs activities at the site and provides leadership, coaching and technical expertise to all site personnel and the site leadership team, including one direct report (HSES/PSM Technician).


Position Responsibilities:


  • Promote and support Flexsys’ desired HSES culture by driving the implementation of core HSES programs, initiatives and regulations.
  • Lead and demonstrate a strong commitment towards HSES standards and guidelines, management systems and procedures.
  • Train, coach and support the site in HSES issues and regulations. 
  • Assist and guide all levels of management, supervisors and employees on site to implement accident prevention activities plus where necessary provide interface to Contractors/Visitors.
  • Provide leadership and facilitation of incident investigations and analysis. Ensure a robust process in place to determine sustainable corrective and preventative actions.
  • Establish, manage and report on key performance indicators, goals and measure results.
  • Drive a collaborative, problem-solving culture that supports open reporting and sustainable achievement of HSES performance.
  • Manage regulatory and HSES internal/external visits and audits (ISO, PADEP, insurance etc.).
  • Identify and implement initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
  • Administer, plan, coordinate and execute company adopted HSES management systems and ensure site complies and meets deadlines on all management systems (ISO etc.).
  • Manage and conduct periodic assessments of site HSES procedures including contractor management.
Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or BA Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience implementing HSES compliance and risk management programs, preferably in a chemical (or related) manufacturing environment. Experience should include a minimum of 3 years of management/supervisory responsibility.
  • Have a working knowledge of US OSHA and EPA regulations including OSHA PSM/EPA RMP and EPA Title V, stormwater, wastewater, RCRA, SPCC, waste regulations, etc. 
  • Strong facilitation, interpersonal and computer skills with a good working knowledge of databases and applications.
  • Capable of developing and managing multiple projects, often with minimal oversight.
  • Exhibits positivity, a passion for HSES, integrity and accountability. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Passion for recognizing and leading positive change
  • Travel Requirements: Infrequent <10% (occasional for training, group meeting, etc.)

Physical Qualifications:


Must be able to perform required duties in chemical manufacturing environment, which will sometimes require climbing stairs, walking the plant grounds and working outdoors.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional, and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist.
  • Experience working with Union workforce.
