Job Summary
The Academy Charter School's Robotics & Computer Coding Teacher will develop and deliver an engaging, rigorous CTE curriculum aligned with New York State CTE Program Approval standards, Computer Science and Digital Fluency Learning Standards, and industry expectations. Students will design, build, program, and test robotic systems while learning programming languages, engineering principles, automation, electronics, and computational thinking through authentic hands-on experiences. The ideal candidate will foster innovation, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving while preparing students for postsecondary education and careers in STEM.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Teach Robotics, Engineering Design, Computer Programming, and Coding courses to middle and/or high school students.
- Design engaging project-based learning experiences aligned to NYSED CTE standards.
- Teach programming using languages such as:
- Python
- Java
- JavaScript
- C++
- Blockly
- Scratch
- Teach robotics platforms including, but not limited to:
- LEGO Education SPIKE Prime
- VEX Robotics
- Arduino
- Raspberry Pi
- Micro:bit
- Drone programming platforms
- Introduce students to:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Machine Learning fundamentals
- Automation
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Sensors and embedded systems
- Computer vision
- Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications when applicable.
- Develop interdisciplinary STEM lessons integrating mathematics, engineering, science, and technology.
- Maintain a modern robotics laboratory with proper equipment inventory and safety procedures.
- Utilize data-driven instruction to monitor student achievement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs, including students with IEPs and English Language Learners.
- Collaborate with CTE administrators and academic teachers to integrate cross-curricular learning.
- Participate in curriculum development aligned with NYSED CTE requirements.
- Assist students in developing digital portfolios and capstone projects.
- Support work-based learning experiences, internships, competitions, and career exploration.
- Coach and supervise robotics teams participating in local, state, and national competitions (FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Robotics, VEX Robotics, etc.).
- Establish partnerships with colleges, universities, and technology industry leaders.
- Maintain all required instructional documentation including lesson plans, assessments, and student performance records.
- Participate in professional learning communities, faculty meetings, and school initiatives.
- Foster an inclusive, innovative classroom culture that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Pay Transparency: The salary range for this role is $ 62,500 - $80,000. Base pay offered may vary within the posted range based on several factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

- Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred)
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, Technology Education, STEM Education, or related field
- Background in Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, Software Development, AI, Automation, or related STEM fields
- Experience with programming and technical problem-solving
- Strong classroom management skills
