The ideal candidate will bring an established network and existing commercial relationships, with the ability to generate new business, deepen client relationships, and grow a commercial portfolio.
As a Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, growing, and servicing a diverse commercial portfolio. This position is intended for a relationship-focused banker who can leverage existing business relationships and market presence to drive new commercial opportunities. You will lead relationship strategy, drive new business development, and deliver tailored financial solutions that support your clients’ growth.
What will you be doing in this role?
- Portfolio Management: Maintain, monitor, and strategically grow a commercial portfolio, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction, portfolio performance, and long-term relationship value.
- Business Development: Leverage an established network, client relationships, referrals, and community involvement to identify and pursue new commercial banking opportunities. Develop tailored financial solutions to meet client needs.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial clients. Provide exceptional service and strategic financial guidance to help clients grow and succeed.
- Credit Analysis & Underwriting: Collaborate with credit analysts to assess creditworthiness, structure loans, and prepare credit presentations.
- Cross-Selling: Promote and cross-sell bank products and services including treasury management, mortgage, and investments.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Monitor portfolio risk and take proactive steps to mitigate issues.
- Community Engagement: Represent the bank at local events and within business associations to enhance visibility and build relationships.

What will you need?
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field of study. AA or AS degree with six or more years of relevant experience or ten or more years of relevant experience with no degree may be substituted for bachelor’s degree. Formal Commercial Credit and/or Lending training preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relatable experience in commercial banking or business lending with verifiable success. Must have established client relationships in assigned market with demonstrated loan origination track record with associated clients.
- Demonstrated success managing and growing a commercial portfolio, including an established book of business, strong referral network, and proven ability to generate new commercial relationships.
- Experience independently developing commercial opportunities, structuring credit solutions, and managing complex client relationships.
- Strong credit analysis and underwriting skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Deep understanding of local market dynamics and business needs.
- Proficiency in banking software and CRM systems
