Primary Purpose: The basketball cheer coach oversees the cheer program at Gehlen Catholic. They are responsible for organizing the basketball cheerleaders during the basketball season. 

Essential Functions

• Train and supervise students in the use of:
  • Practice
  • Games
• Teach the cheerleaders the school fight song and the cheers to be performed during basketball games and pep rallies.
• Communicate with players and parents
• Attend all basketball games, home and away (Boys and Girls)
• Work with the Athletic Director closely on scheduling and transportation.
• Follow the rules and policies set forth by Gehlen Catholic for eligibility requirements.
• Know and follow all rules and regulations from the ICCA. 
• Uphold the values of our Catholic faith while leading their players.

• Must hold a valid Iowa coaching certification or license.
• Complete Virtus training
• Completed background checks
• CPR-trained preferred but not required
• Knowledge of cheerleading from previous experiences via performing or coaching
