CNS is thrilled to welcome a talented and driven CDL Passenger Instructor to one of the fastest-growing CDL Driver Training Center teams in the country. This is an on-demand, part-time position — you'll be called on to train students as passenger endorsement demand comes in, giving you the flexibility to work around your own schedule. Some Saturday availability is required, typically 4-5 hours per session. This role offers exciting growth opportunities, as you'll report directly to our Vice President of Operations for our Driver Training Center. As a CDL Passenger Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on training to students pursuing their passenger endorsement, setting clear objectives, and evaluating trainee performance. You'll prepare the vehicle and range for class, maintain accurate records, and provide mentorship and support to help students succeed. You'll also collaborate with the VP of Operations to manage equipment maintenance and stay current on industry regulations and compliance. On-site travel for contracted training may be required.

SCHEDULE

This is an on-demand role, hours are scheduled as student demand for passenger endorsement training arises, and shifts are built around your availability. Some Saturdays will be required, typically 4-5 hours per session.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (JOB DUTIES)

• Prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for CDL passenger endorsement trainees.

• Establish and communicate clear objectives for each learning activity.

• Prepare the vehicle and training range for class and instruction.

• Observe and assess trainee performance, providing feedback to support their development.

• Maintain accurate and complete records of trainee progress throughout the program.

• Offer mentorship within the trucking and transit industry.

• Collaborate with the VP of Operations to oversee equipment maintenance, performing light repairs and scheduling as needed.

• Implement hands-on training in line with the CNS CDL curriculum.

• Stay current with industry regulations, compliance, and continuing education to ensure program quality.

• Travel to client sites for contracted training as needed.


Additional Responsibilities

• Cross-train within the family of companies as offered.

• Provide classroom training when needed.

Requirements

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU (SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS)

To be successful in this position, the employee will possess the following skills and competencies:

• A minimum of 5 years driving with a CDL

• Passenger (P) endorsement required; School Bus (S) endorsement a plus

• Detail-oriented with strong attention to accuracy

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear instruction

• Maintain a positive attitude in all circumstances

• Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time and responsibilities

• Exceptional driving skills

• Ability to work independently without direct supervision or on-site support

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Class "A" or "B" CDL License with Passenger endorsement

• Current DOT medical examination and valid medical card

• Availability to work on-demand as student scheduling requires, including some Saturdays (typically 4-5 hours per session)

Prior to employment: individual must pass substance abuse tests and Pennsylvania clearances for criminal background check. This individual will be added to the CNS DOT drug and alcohol consortium, per FMCSA regulations and subjected to random drug and alcohol testing.
