Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides speech, language, social communication, AAC, feeding, and functional communication services to students with autism, developmental disabilities, and behavioral needs within BHA Academy. The SLP conducts evaluations, develops individualized treatment plans, provides direct therapy, monitors progress, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and families to promote communication, independence, and educational success.

Working within an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) framework, the SLP partners with Behavioral Clinicians, teachers, and support staff to implement evidence-based interventions, communication supports, and behavior strategies throughout the school day.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to safely supervise students, respond during behavioral crises, maintain continuous alertness, and perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. 
  • Current Missouri SLP license; ASHA CCC-SLP preferred. 
  • Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, and challenging behaviors. 
  • Experience with AAC systems, PECS, visual supports, and social communication interventions. 
  • Knowledge of ABA principles preferred. 
  • Three or more years of related experience, preferably in a school setting. 

Skills

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. 
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and data-driven decision making. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, documentation systems, and AAC technology. 
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage multiple priorities. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct speech, language, AAC, feeding, and social communication evaluations. 
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with IEP goals. 
  • Provide individual and group therapy focused on functional communication, language, articulation, AAC, social skills, and feeding. 
  • Collect data, monitor progress, and adjust interventions based on student outcomes. 
  • Collaborate with teachers, Behavior Clinicians, paraprofessionals, and families to support communication across environments. 
  • Train staff and caregivers on AAC systems, communication strategies, and skill generalization. 
  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences. 
  • Maintain timely documentation, therapy notes, progress reports, billing, and compliance records. 
  • Support crisis intervention and behavioral programming using trauma-informed and ABA-based practices. 
  • Promote a positive, structured, and student-centered learning environment. 
  • Advocate for appropriate communication supports and assistive technology. 
  • Complete other duties as assigned while upholding BHA Academy's mission and Core Values.

Starting Pay: Our compensation is competitive within the market. The starting rate for this position begins at $49.00 per hour, with your final offer based on a combination of your education, relevant experience, and overall qualifications
