Content Marketing Specialist (Publishing)
Carol Stream, IL Marketing
Job Type
Full-time
Description

For more than 60 years, Tyndale has helped readers discover the life-giving truths of God’s Word. Today we’re one of the largest independently owned Christian publishers in the world. Though our business has grown, our mission remains the same: to open God’s Word to as many as possible in language they can relate to and understand.

Tyndale is seeking a talented Content Marketing Specialist to shape how readers discover and connect with our books, Bibles, and brands across the digital landscape. In this role, you'll drive real business impact, turning marketing priorities into compelling content that boosts organic visibility, deepens audience engagement, and supports sales for major book and Bible launches. Success in this role calls for a rare combination of sharp editorial instincts and polished writing ability, paired with hands-on CMS publishing skills and a practical command of SEO and keyword strategy. You'll need to be equally comfortable crafting a compelling headline, managing a fast-moving editorial calendar, and mining performance data to sharpen what comes next. Apply your craft in service of a mission that matters, working alongside marketing, editorial, publishing, and creative teams to bring life-giving content to our readers!

What You'll Do

Content Creation, Editing & Publishing

  • Write, edit, and proofread content for blogs, websites, email campaigns, social media, and digital advertisements.
  • Publish and manage content within CMS platforms, ensuring accuracy in formatting and overall presentation.
  • Translate marketing priorities into clear, engaging content that reflects brand voice and editorial standards.
  • Collaborate with marketing, editorial, publishing, and creative teams to support book and Bible launches, seasonal campaigns, promotions, and ongoing initiatives.

SEO & Content Optimization

  • Conduct keyword research and apply SEO best practices to improve content visibility and organic search performance.
  • Optimize headlines, metadata, structure, and copy for readability, engagement, and search discoverability.
  • Use performance data (traffic, engagement, and conversion insights) to refine and improve content over time.
  • Support the creation and refinement of Google Ads and other search marketing copy as needed.

Editorial Planning & Content Operations

  • Manage editorial and promotional calendars across digital marketing channels.
  • Coordinate content from draft through editing, approval, publishing, and post-publication updates.
  • Ensure timely execution of content in alignment with marketing campaigns, product releases, and promotional priorities.

Audience & Content Development

  • Support development and maintenance of the Tyndale brand voice, audience personas and customer journey insights.
  • Stay informed on trends in publishing, digital marketing, SEO, and content best practices relevant to Christian publishing.
  • Identify opportunities to improve or expand content based on audience needs and performance insights.

Skills and Qualifications Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in content marketing, editorial, communications, publishing, or digital content roles.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with CMS platforms, including publishing and updating web content.
  • Working knowledge of SEO principles and keyword application in editorial content.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a structured, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common digital content tools.
