Description

Senior Engineering Manager — Veryon India (GCC)

Location: Open for Bangalore / Chennai | Hybrid

Time zone:?Overlap with US East Coast hours required 3–4 days/week during ramp-up

Veryon operates on a global delivery model, with its GCC setup in India serving as the company's largest technology hub. The India engineering organization plays a central role in product development and platform strategy, and we're hiring a senior leader to help run that org as it continues to grow.

If you come from a SaaS background, have real hands-on experience modernizing legacy systems into scalable, cloud-ready platforms, and want a role with genuine strategic scope rather than a narrowly-defined management job — this is worth a serious look.

The Role,

We're hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the engineering teams behind Veryon's Maintenance Repair & Operations (MRO) platform — products that keep aircraft maintenance operations running for a large share of the world's commercial fleet.

You'll be one of the senior technical leaders shaping how this hub hires, how it partners with Product and how it bridges engineering teams across multiple global regions.

This is a working leadership role, not a purely strategic one. You'll spend real time in architecture discussions, technical debt conversations, and legacy-to-modern migration decisions — while also owning people leadership, hiring, and cross-functional alignment.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Run the engine room. Lead multiple engineering teams delivering Veryon's MRO solutions — accountable for a combined team that includes North America and India based engineers.
  • Modernization. Guide the ongoing evolution of systems that carry real technical history — legacy modernization, incremental re-architecture, and the judgment calls that come with balancing stability against progress.
  • Build the bench. Assess talent rigorously and raise the bar every quarter
  • Collaborate closely with Product to influence the roadmap. Leverage your expertise in architecture and awareness of market needs to determine priorities and rationale.
  • Establish AI tooling as standard practice. Teams should be using AI coding assistants and agentic tooling as part of their regular workflow, with a clear, informed perspective on where these tools add value and where they do not.
  • Lead architecture and platform design decisions. Factor in Veryon's product direction over the next two years, balancing near-term operational needs with longer-term scalability.

  • Take direct ownership of production support. This includes Tier-3 escalations, root cause analysis, and maintaining the standards — code quality, release process, and incident response — needed to support the team as it scales.

You'll Thrive Here If You Have...

  • 8-12 years of software engineering experience, including several years in engineering management — ideally with experience managing people or leading multiple teams at once.
  • Real, hands-on exposure to legacy system modernization — migrating older platforms toward modern, cloud-native architecture, not just working on systems that were already modern when you joined.
  • Solid grounding in cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure), CI/CD practices, and API-driven system design.
  • A track record of hiring and developing engineering talent.
  • Experience owning production support and incident response in a SaaS or enterprise setting.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly around working with global stakeholders across time zones.
  • Practical, current experience using AI tools in engineering workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.

What Veryon Stands For

  • Fueled by Customers — every engineering decision ties back to keeping our customers' aircraft in the air.
  • Win Together — we build as a team, and we hire people who make their teams better.
  • Make It Happen — commitments are commitments; we adapt, but we deliver.
  • Innovate to Elevate — we set the bar in aviation technology and treat failure as a learning input, not a verdict.

Worth Knowing

This role sits within Veryon's largest global technology hub, at a point where the hub is being shaped for continued growth. It's a genuine leadership opportunity for someone who wants both the technical depth and the strategic scope.
