What We Are Looking For

We are seeking Regional Director to join our team. This position reports directly to the EVP of Retail and will work closely with a highly collaborative team of professionals. 

The role requires daily communication with the EVP of Retail and cross-functional collaboration to support the overall business by ensuring all reports and sales data is are executed efficiently and accurately.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong passion for retail sales, drive to grow sales, organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and a positive, can-do attitude with a good sense of humor.

  

Position Overview

The Regional Director is responsible for operational performance, sales results, and talent development across an assigned geographic territory spanning multiple store formats — Employee-Managed stores, Operator-Run stores, GO stores, TRU stores, and Disney stores (where applicable). Store locations and formats will be assigned by the EVP of Retail Sales. 

This role requires the agility to flex leadership style by format: driving results and building Teams directly in Employee-Managed locations, while serving as a trusted business partner, brand guardian, and problem-solver for independent Operators. 

The Regional Director ensures brand standards, drives profitability, mentors store leadership to maximize performance and customer satisfaction, and is the face and voice of Go! Retail Group in the field.

  

Essential Functions:


Store Operations – All Formats

• Oversees and manages multiple retail locations across assigned store formats within the territory.

• Ensures brand standards for service, merchandising, graphics presentation, and cleanliness are met across every format, including licensor-specific requirements for GO, TRU, Disney, and other brands as assigned.

• Drives profitability across all stores and stays informed of all sales promotions, ensuring proper execution and communicating results with suggestions for improvement.

• Develops and monitors performance and sales goals and KPIs by store and format, driving accountability to those goals.

• Oversees the successful opening, relocation, transformation, and closing of stores within the territory, ensuring operational readiness and alignment with corporate partners.

• Stabilizes underperforming locations, leading performance improvement efforts to protect brand standards and business results.

• Ensures all locations adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and legal/state requirements.

• Champions strong customer relationships and experience across the territory.

• Analyzes regional performance data — sales, payroll, shrink, and KPIs — to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and builds action plans to address them.

• Partners cross-functionally with merchandising, visual, loss prevention, HR, and licensing teams to resolve issues and capitalize on opportunities within the territory.


Employee-Managed Stores

• Owns full operational and budget responsibility for sales and payroll in all Employee-Managed stores.

• Recruits, hires, trains, and, when necessary, terminates store managers and key store-level Team members.

• Directly manages store managers, providing leadership, training, and direction.

• Coaches store managers through individualized career and personal development plans, and holds leaders accountable while maintaining a supportive and fair approach.

• Recruits, coaches, and develops leadership talent for future assignments and succession planning.

• Directly drives sales results, labor management, and operational execution store by store.


Operator-Run Stores

• Conducts regular store visits and audits to confirm Operator-run locations are meeting brand, merchandising, and customer experience standards.

• Serves as the primary point of contact for Operators — answering questions, clarifying policy, and providing guidance on programs and initiatives.

• Surfaces and elevates Operator concerns to the appropriate corporate team, following up to ensure timely resolution.

• Identifies and removes obstacles that prevent Operators from succeeding, connecting them with the right resources or people.

• Builds collaborative, trust-based relationships with Operators that balance brand compliance with respect for their ownership of the business.

• Escalates persistent performance or compliance issues and partners with corporate leadership on remediation plans where needed.


Leadership

• Establishes clear performance expectations and measurable outcomes for store leaders across all formats.

• Provides ongoing guidance and support for day-to-day operational needs.

• Communicates effectively with store teams, Operators, and corporate partners.

• Builds and maintains strong relationships with peers and corporate partners to leverage expertise and execute strategies.

• Collaborates on and leads key business initiatives.

• Leads by example through professionalism, sound judgment, and a calm, respectful approach to issue resolution.

• Ensures strong alignment between field operations and corporate, escalating and resolving issues as needed.

• Participates in corporate management decisions and serves as the voice of the field back to corporate leadership.

• Other duties as assigned.

  

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: 

• Associate's degree or higher preferred.

• 7–10 years of retail leadership experience, including extensive multi-unit/multi-store experience; specialty retail experience preferred.

• Experience working with franchisees, licensees, or independent business Operators is a strong plus.

• Experience supporting licensed or branded retail concepts (e.g., Disney, Toys“R”Us, or similar) is a plus.

• Proven track record of driving sales growth and improving operational efficiency.

• Experience with inventory management and loss prevention.

• Strong leadership presence with a proven ability to influence, motivate, and develop teams.

• Results oriented with creative problem-solving skills.

• Proactive and willing to take initiative; ability to resolve conflict positively.

• Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks with competing and changing priorities.

• Ability to work well on a team and maintain a positive attitude toward all divisions of the company, Team members, and the Executive team.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

• Travel approximately 50% of the time throughout the assigned market territory, conducting store visits with clear objectives and purpose, including overnight as required.
