EHS Specialist
Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR SUMMARY

Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining occupational health and safety programs and initiatives to ensure the well-being of all employees and the prevention of accidents and incidents within our glass fabrication manufacturing facility. This role involves leading safety efforts, creating a culture of safety awareness, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and company policies.


 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


Safety and Health Program and Training

  • Coordinates and enforces employee safety and health programs and promotes safety awareness to minimize work-related injuries.
  • Comprehends federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensures that the company is in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) guidelines.
  • Drafts and updates safety training materials and trains personnel on safety protocols and preventative measures.
  • Runs risk assessments on workspaces and presents reports to Safety and Health manager.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for employees, covering topics such as emergency procedures, proper equipment usage, and hazard recognition.

Incident Investigation and Reporting

  • Will investigate workplace incidents, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Serves as a liaison between the employees and management by communicating and reporting safety concern and safety matters.

Implementing Safety Measures

  • Keep inventory and stocked all first aid materials and first aid kits.
  • Ensure that all employees have access to and properly use PPE, such as helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and other necessary protective gear.
  • Performs additional assignments per the Manager’s direction.

Environmental Program and Training

  • Conduct environmental training sessions for employees, covering topics such as stormwater compliance and emergency procedures.
Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATIONAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or at least one (1) year of experience in related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant safety certifications is a plus.
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience in safety and health management, preferably in a manufacturing or glass fabrication environment.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with strong ability to make presentations and conduct training to hourly, supervision and site management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Preferred knowledge and experience with ISO certifications.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Requires regular sitting, reaching walking, talking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling and keyboarding.
  • May occasionally lift/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Includes close, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision with ability to adjust focus.

  • Work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential function of the job.
