Description

The Electronics Assembler II is an intermediate-level assembly position within the Electronics Manufacturing (ELM) team. The Assembler works closely with management and team leads to build and test cable and other various electronic assemblies while adhering to strict compliance and quality standards. 


Role and Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Supervisor or Manager of Electronics Manufacturing, the Electronic Assembler II performs the following functions:

  • Build cable and various electronic assemblies while ensuring compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Identify, document, and work with the Electronics Manufacturing Engineer to eliminate the discovered quality issues and drawing errors.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret cable drawings, interconnects, and specification drawings, to guide and aid in the assembly process.
  • Use soldering iron in assembly work while adhering to IPC-J-STD-001 in the production of wiring assemblies.
  • Inspect/test cable and wired electronic assemblies produced by both internal and external vendors using electronic wire testing fixtures. 
  • Identify, document, and work with various cross-functional teams to eliminate quality issues discovered. 
  • Suggest new improved processes, workflows, test protocols, etc. to management to improve efficiency and quality and help meet department lean manufacturing objectives. 
  • Ability to effectively use electronic test equipment including, but not limited to, digital multi-meters, cable scanners and purpose-built test fixtures. 
Requirements


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of prior experience in electronics or related field required.
  • Strong familiarity and ability to read and interpret cable drawings, interconnects, and specification drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to use soldering iron while adhering to IPC-J-STD-001 in the production of wiring assemblies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using test equipment and tools.
  • Ability to perform within established time constraints and to the highest level of quality.
  • Strong working knowledge of assembly equipment and tools, such as crimpers, wire cutters, solder equipment, crimping dies, wire strippers, and common hand tools.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous qualification in IPC-J-STD-001 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 is desired, but not required.

Physical and/or Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to perform intricate assembly tasks with precision and attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency and ability to use soldering equipment and related tools. 
  • Manual hand dexterity for handling small electronic components and cables. 
  • Capacity to stand or sit for extended periods during assembly work (8-hour shift).
  •  Ability to regularly lift and carry materials and components weighing up to 30 pounds .
  • Strong visual acuity for quality inspection and fine soldering work.
