Recreational Therapist


Grand Villa of Port Charlotte is seeking a compassionate and experienced Recreational Therapist to enrich the lives of our senior residents in both Assisted Living and Memory Care settings. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of seniors by providing engaging and therapeutic activities that promote well-being, independence, and joy. The position is ideal for college students or semi-retired individuals seeking a flexible, part-time role with a positive impact.


Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, plan, and implement recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the needs and interests of residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care.

- Assess residents’ abilities and preferences to create personalized activity plans that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

- Facilitate group and individual activities, encouraging participation and social interaction among residents.

- Monitor and document residents’ responses to activities, adjusting plans as needed to maximize engagement and benefits.

- Collaborate with staff, family members, and healthcare professionals to ensure activities support residents’ overall care plans.

- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment during all activities, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.


Skills and Qualifications:

- Proven experience in recreational therapy, activity coordination, or a related field, preferably with seniors or in healthcare settings.

- Knowledge of therapeutic activities suitable for seniors, including those with memory impairments.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor.

- Ability to assess individual needs and adapt activities accordingly.

- Flexibility to work approximately 20 hours per week, including weekends.

- Relevant certifications or training in recreational therapy or activity coordination are preferred.
