Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Annual Salary $90,000/year


Position Description:

The Grant Proposal Writer will research, develop, and craft grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations. This role will manage the entire grant cycle, including initial research, proposal writing, budget development, submission, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and research skills, a strong understanding of the nonprofit sector, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. This position plays a vital role in securing funding to support a $12M budget and Ritter Center's mission to support vulnerable individuals.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Research/identify potential grant opportunities that align with Ritter Center's mission.
  • Develop and write compelling grant proposals, letters of intent, and reports in collaboration with program staff and the Chief Development Officer.
  • Manage the entire grant process, including tracking deadlines, submission, and follow-up.
  • Maintain a comprehensive calendar of grant deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with grant-making organizations and foundations.
  • Partner with finance and other staff to gather requisite data for proposals and reports.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all grant requirements and deliverables.
  • Track and report on the status of all private grant applications and awards and any government reporting deadlines as requested.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in grant writing, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Proven track record of successful grant proposals and budget development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software.
  • Per OSHA requirements, employment at Ritter Center requires producing a negative TB test prior to the start of employment, as well as being vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless applying for an exemption) per the August 5th State Public Order for Healthcare Facilities, providers, and employees.
