The Janitorial and Landscaping Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the Orange County Rescue Mission campuses are clean, well-maintained, and welcoming—both inside and out. This role oversees janitorial and landscaping operations, while supervising and mentoring students assigned to facilities and grounds duties. The Supervisor plays a key role in modeling excellence, fostering student growth, and supporting a safe, dignified, and Christ-centered environment.
This role has a scheudle of Monday-Friday, from 8am-5pm.
Essential Job Duties for Janitorial Department
1. Supervise daily janitorial tasks performed by program students, ensuring cleanliness of common areas, restrooms, offices, and dormitories.
2. Create and manage cleaning schedules and detailed checklists for all areas of the campus.
3. Train students on cleaning techniques, equipment use, and safety standards.
4. Perform regular inspections to ensure cleanliness and identify areas for improvement.
5. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request restocking as needed.
6. Coordinate cleaning support for room cleanouts and special events, ensuring proper setup and cleanup.
7. Ensure that concrete surfaces are power washed and carpets are shampooed as needed to maintain cleanliness and presentation standards.
Essential job duties for Landscaping Department
8. Supervise students assigned to landscaping and outdoor maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, weeding, watering, and general upkeep of campus grounds.
9. Maintain shrubbery and trees through planting, watering, weeding, pest control, and precise trimming using hand and power tools to ensure a neat, healthy appearance.
10. Prepare designated areas for planting by clearing debris, grading soil, applying fertilizer, and ensuring adequate watering for healthy plant development.
11. Operate blowers and other equipment to remove gravel, leaves, and debris from sidewalks, driveways, and other hardscaped areas, maintaining a tidy and hazard-free outdoor space.
12. Oversee the landscaping schedule, assigning daily tasks and special projects while managing priorities and student work assignments to ensure campus-wide coverage.
13. Train students in the safe and effective use of all landscaping tools and equipment, including mowers, blowers, trimmers, and sprinklers, promoting skill development and adherence to safety protocols.
14. Model Christ-like servant leadership by providing hands-on supervision, encouraging responsibility and teamwork, offering performance feedback, and holding students accountable for their assigned tasks.
