Job Summary:
The Operations Manager (OM) serves as the Strategic Labor Manager for the facility. While the Area Manager executes the daily plan, the OM is responsible for converting process variances into repeatable, cost-effective standards. The OM's main driver is managing labor—the primary operational controllable—to improve end-to-end execution. Success in this role is defined by the ability to analyze labor data, standardize workflows across shifts, and remove systemic barriers so that Area Managers can remain focused on the floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Labor Management:
Lead: Own the labor line of the P&L. Align headcount with volume, manage the hiring and training funnel, approve timesheets, and manage OT.
Support: Provide AMs with the "Labor Plan" for the day, ensuring they know exactly how many heads they have and where they belong.
- Process Standardization & Audit:
Lead: Identify "performance leaks" where the site has deviated from SOP. Audit the AMs to ensure they are coaching to the correct standard, not a "local version."
Support: Provide the GM with data-driven insights on performance and Talent management.
- People Development (The Bridge)
Lead: Own the Training & Development Lifecycle. While the AM handles the "now," the OM handles the "next." This includes designing and auditing structured coaching paths, managing the onboarding curriculum, and overseeing the "Performance Improvement Plan" (PIP) process for underperformers.
Support: Train and audit AMs on how to coach effectively so that "In-the-Moment" feedback is high-quality and consistent. Partner with the GM to identify high-potential AMs for future promotion and succession planning.
- Diagnostic Troubleshooting:
Lead: Find the "Why" behind the data. If the AM handles the symptom (a backlog), the OM fixes the cause (poor scheduling or faulty training paths).
Support: Support the AM in technical hurdles involving Cargo, Payroll, or other management systems.
Core Competency:
- Accuracy ("Right First Time"): You eliminate the "hidden factory" of rework by ensuring your team follows SOPs exactly, protecting downstream profitability.
- Efficiency ("Speed with Purpose"): You don't just move fast; you identify which area or bottleneck needs your attention now to move the needle on shift volume.
- Reliability ("The Stable Standard"): You are the leader the team can set their watch by—consistent in your expectations, your presence, and your enforcement of rules.
- Insightful Curiosity ("Find the 'Why'"): When a metric dips, you look past the symptom (the low number) to fix the actual disease (the broken process or tool) on the floor.
- Bias for Action ("Own the Outcome"): You treat your area like your own business. Waiting for permission is a bottleneck; you take the lead to clear the path for your team.
- Resourcefulness ("Scrappy & Strategic"): You protect the bottom line by maximizing the headcount and equipment you have, rather than waiting for more resources to arrive.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Proven experience in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics leadership role.
- Strong ability to coach and lead direct teams in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
- Proficiency in analyzing performance data and executing daily operational adjustments.
- Clear and confident communicator with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Able to direct and make key decisions related to specific tasks and responsibilities in day-to-day operations.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs frequently.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, twist, and stoop for extended periods (10 to 12 hour shifts). - Frequent climbing of ladders and step stools required.
- Manual dexterity to operate setup tools and equipment.
- Must be physically able to work in varying environmental conditions (hot/cold).

- Paid Time Off, Sick Pay, Holiday Pay

- Medical, dental and vision benefits
- 401(k) with 4% match after one year of employment
