Water Senior On-Site Construction Manager
McClure is currently searching for a skilled Senior On-Site Construction Manager. The Construction Manager will work closely with project managers and their project stakeholder teams in the implementation of construction engineering services on a variety of drinking water and wastewater (sewer) related projects. The Construction Manager is capable of serving as the primary liaison between client, contractor and design team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
To perform the Senior On-Site Construction Manager job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. These requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive of the knowledge, skills and abilities required of this position.
- Knowledge of related construction materials and methods including water, sanitary, and storm utilities, paving and grading, wastewater and water treatment;
- Ability to read and interpret plans and effectively enforce the Contract Document requirements;
- Ability to prepare comprehensive punch lists and monitor completion;
- Knowledge and full understanding of pay estimates, change orders and record drawings;
- Ability to discuss contract meaning and contractor’s work product as the Owner’s agent when a disagreement arises;
- Ability to act in the best interest of McClure and the Owner to resolve the conflict;
- Ability to take appropriate action as needed and monitor results with follow through;
- Ability to obtain and maintain Iowa DOT Technical Training and Certification Program (TTCP) ;
- Knowledge in all aspects of earthworks, foundation construction, wall construction, structural concrete, site utilities and site paving;
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with all staff;
- Strong ability to multi-task;
- Familiarity with 10-States Standards for Water Works and Wastewater Facilities, and Iowa SUDAS Standards;
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office experience;
- Ability to resolve conflicts that may arise while on job site;
- Strong understanding and knowledge of civil drawings, construction processes and construction codes;
- Experience with CAD, REVIT and other applicable design software a plus;
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form;
- Ability to read and interpret documents;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Educational and/or Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required;
- Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical School preferred
- Construction Engineering or Civil Engineering degree a plus
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years related experience, with specific wastewater and/or drinking water construction experience preferred
