PAY RANGE:  BOE


 ALL FULL-TIME POSITIONS: Your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, $140.00 Employee plus family

Job Summary: The Grill Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Travel Plaza restaurant, ensuring exceptional food quality, outstanding customer service, food safety compliance, cleanliness, and profitability. This position supervises restaurant employees, manages inventory and labor, and maintains a clean, organized, and efficient operation while delivering an exceptional guest experience.

  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Restaurant Operations

  • Oversee the daily operation of the restaurant.
  • Ensure all food is prepared according to company recipes, quality standards, and portion guidelines.
  • Deliver fast, friendly, and accurate customer service.
  • Open and close the restaurant according to company procedures.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels and employee scheduling.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.

Cleanliness & Food Safety

  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized front-of-house and back-of-house at all times.
  • Ensure dining areas, kitchen, food preparation areas, equipment, and storage rooms meet company cleanliness standards.
  • Maintain walk-in coolers, reach-in coolers, and freezers in a clean, organized, and food-safe condition.
  • Ensure all products are properly labeled, dated, rotated using FIFO (First-In, First-Out), and stored at proper temperatures.
  • Conduct routine inspections of coolers, freezers, and storage areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and product freshness.
  • Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
  • Maintain required food safety logs and documentation.

Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and supervise restaurant employees.
  • Prepare employee work schedules while controlling labor costs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and excellent customer service.
  • Ensure employees follow company policies and procedures.

Inventory & Financial Management

  • Order food, beverages, paper products, and operating supplies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and conduct regular inventory counts.
  • Control food costs through proper ordering, portion control, and waste reduction.
  • Verify deliveries for accuracy and quality.
  • Monitor sales, labor, food cost, and operating expenses to meet financial goals.
  • Support promotional programs and merchandising initiatives to increase sales.

  

Qualifications Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of restaurant supervisory or management experience.
  • Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, inventory control, and customer service.
  • Basic computer and POS system experience.

Preferred

  • Experience managing a convenience store, quick service, or fast-casual restaurant.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull as required.
  • Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Work in hot and refrigerated environments.

  

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced convenience store restaurant environment.
  • Exposure to hot cooking equipment, grease, cleaning chemicals, and refrigeration.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
