Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Press Brake Operator to set up and operate press brake machines to bend, form, and shape metal sheets and components according to blueprints and specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, an eye for precision, and experience working in a fast-paced fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual, hydraulic, or CNC press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal parts
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine bend sequences, tooling, and specifications
- Select and install proper dies and tooling based on job requirements
- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, protractors, and other precision measuring tools to ensure accuracy and quality
- Adjust machine settings (angle, pressure, back gauge) to meet tolerance requirements
- Identify and correct issues such as material springback, misalignment, or defects
- Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with safety standards
- Track production quantities and complete required documentation/quality logs
- Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding job status, material issues, or scheduling needs
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3+ years of press brake operation experience (CNC experience preferred)
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, protractors)
- Strong understanding of sheet metal properties, bend allowances, and tooling selection
- Basic math skills, including geometry and measurement conversions
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to [XX] lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CNC press brake controls (e.g., Amada, Cincinnati, LVD, Trumpf)
- Familiarity with quality control processes and ISO standards
- Prior experience in a fabrication, metalworking, or manufacturing setting
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/shop floor setting
- Exposure to noise, machinery, and moving parts
- Requires use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection)
Salary Description
$22-28 per hour.
