Bittersweet Farms is a non-profit and world-renowned leader in serving individuals with autism. We are seeking a full-time Day Program Director to provide strategic leadership and oversight for day programming services across our Whitehouse and Lima locations.
This senior leadership role operates out of Whitehouse, OH and is responsible for overseeing a department of up to 30 Direct Support Professionals, supervising Program Leaders and specialists, and fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and excellence. Priding oneself on recognizing the unique qualities and needs of each individual with autism and addressing those needs appropriately is a necessary aspect in carrying out the position of Day Program Director.
Essential Functions
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for the Whitehouse Day Program, Lima Day Program, and Supported Employment Program.
- Directly supervise Program Leaders, Specialists, and the Community Outreach Coordinator while promoting accountability, engagement, and professional growth.
- Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop staff to build high-performing teams and strengthen leadership capacity throughout the department.
- Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, DODD regulations, Medicaid requirements, accreditation standards, and applicable funding sources.
- Partner with department leaders to establish goals, improve performance outcomes, and advance strategic initiatives.
- Monitor staffing levels, workforce development efforts, and succession planning initiatives to ensure quality services and operational stability.
- Ensure that staff is implementing all aspects of the Individual Support Plans and Behavioral Support Plans for all program participants
- Maintain current knowledge of Adult Day Support regulations and changes affecting DODD, Medicaid, CMS, and related service delivery systems.
- Provide hands-on leadership, training, feedback, and support to staff while maintaining a visible presence within programs.
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to meet operational and programmatic needs.
- Create and follow program budget by monitoring and managing revenues and expense
- Assist direct support staff by providing hands-on care as needed
Qualifications/Skills Needed:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field.
- Three to five years of progressive leadership experience with direct responsibility for staff supervision, performance management, and operational oversight.
- Demonstrated success in staff development, performance management, and leadership training.
- Extensive knowledge of Ohio DODD regulations, Adult Day Support services, Medicaid waiver programs, ISP implementation, and compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to effectively lead, motivate, and develop teams in a dynamic service environment.
- Valid driver’s license along with eligibility to be insured, ability to pass NMT physical, background check and accessibility to a vehicle
- The ability to travel between Whitehouse, Toledo-area Supported Employment Program locations, and Lima, OH as needed.
- Ability to use crisis and emergency response training to physically support participants in times of behavioral, medical, and environmental emergencies
