Position Summary:

Midland Scientific-East is seeking an ambitious Independent Sales Representative (1099 Contractor) to develop new business opportunities and support customers throughout the North Carolina territory. This position is ideal for a motivated sales professional who thrives in an independent, entrepreneurial environment and is driven by relationship-building and business development.


Essential Functions:

  • Pursue new sales opportunities through relationship building, prospecting, referrals, networking, trade shows, and in-person sales calls
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective customers
  • Generate and follow up on quotes, proposals, and sales opportunities
  • Provide exceptional customer support through responsiveness, consistency, and proactive communication
  • Identify customer needs and recommend innovative laboratory and scientific supply solutions
  • Maintain regular communication with Midland Scientific leadership and support teams
  • Attend periodic sales meetings and product training sessions

Independent Contractor Details:

  • 1099 Independent Contractor position
  • Commission-based compensation structure
  • Contractor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, business expenses, and work equipment unless otherwise agreed upon

Education & Experience:

Education: Bachelor's degree required, a degree in Biology, Chemistry or Supply Chain Management is preferred

Experience: Prior outside sales experience required, especially in laboratory, scientific, industrial, or technical sales
