Position summary
Keep the plant running. Own preventive maintenance, machine repair, building systems, spare parts, and the vendor relationships behind all of it.
Essential functions
- Build and run the preventive maintenance schedule for every production machine, starting with the Goodyear stitcher, the inseamer, the clicker press and the lasting machines.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults on legacy footwear machinery.
- Own the critical spare parts inventory. For any machine with no backup, the spare part is the insurance policy.
- Maintain building systems: compressed air, dust collection, ventilation, exhaust, electrical, HVAC and roof.
- Own equipment-side regulatory compliance: machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and environmental permit conditions.
- Manage outside vendors and service contracts. Approve parts purchases against budget.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications
- Ten or more years in industrial maintenance, ideally on legacy machinery where the manufacturer no longer supports the equipment.
- Electrical, pneumatic and mechanical troubleshooting. Able to fabricate a part when no part is available.
- Able to run a lockout/tagout program and hold operators to it.
Physical requirements and work environment
Full plant access. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Ladder and elevated work. Confined space entry. Exposure to the full range of plant hazards. Reasonable accommodation is available to qualified individuals with disabilities.
How performance is measured
Unplanned downtime hours per month. Preventive maintenance completion rate. Lockout/tagout compliance.
