Description

 Job Summary:

  The Commodity Manager reports to VP Purchasing. The position is a critical part of TELIT’s development process and is responsible for formulating, communicating, and executing the worldwide sourcing strategy. The Commodity Manager leads supplier sourcing / selection activities and successfully manages the supplier relationship to ensure the delivery of high quality, cost effective materials to support production requirements. The Commodity Manager has an important role in ensuring that its respective commodity meets the technical and price specifications necessary for TELIT to satisfy its internal and external customers. 


 Objectives & Responsibilities:

  •  Global role working with Engineering to influence technical design decisions to meet technical capabilities, cost, and business objectives.
  • Align the commodity strategy to TELIT’s objectives for sustaining production, new product introduction (NPI), and R&D activities. Ensures TELIT has the right product at the right place and on-time with a secured and qualified supply base.
  • Develop a commodity technology roadmap, aligning business requirements with supplier capabilities.
  • Responsible for AVL (Approved Vendors List) for commodity, supplier selection and qualification.
  • Maintain supplier scorecard and evaluation.
  • Ensure a competitive sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement in quality, cost, service and technology.
  • Interface with cross functional teams to assess current and future sourcing requirements.
  • Responsible for quarterly executive business reviews of strategic sourcing plan that define, among other things, product roadmaps, supplier capabilities and annual / quarterly strategic business objectives.
  • Manage overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, cost and quality improvements.
  • Maintain personal knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures and technical improvements.
  • Periodic travel to supplier’s manufacturing sites.
  • Support annual cost reductions, VMI/JIT, lead-time reductions, favorable payment terms, etc. 
  •  Other ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisor.  
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.
  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, supplier management, or supply chain roles within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience managing supplier selection, qualification, performance, and commercial negotiations, with a strong understanding of global sourcing best practices.
  • Knowledge of the electronics, semiconductor, cellular telecommunications, or IoT industry, including experience managing commodities such as chipsets, memory, PCB, or related components.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cost management skills, including cost modeling, quotation analysis, supplier evaluation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives; fluency in English is required and experience with SAP or other ERP systems is preferred.

  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a multinational, multicultural organization with global supplier networks.
  • Knowledge of international trade practices, contract management, and global supply agreements.
  •  Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and product lifecycle management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, reporting tools, and business analytics.
