Help the veterinarians in the medical and surgical treatment of animals. Intake animals & enter the shelter system following proper protocols of handling and computer data entry. Educate the public on animal health while demonstrating SFAS policies. Ensure the most humane care possible is provided to all animals brought to the shelter. Promote the shelter whenever possible. Help the veterinarians in the aspects of intake, surgery, laboratory diagnostics, radiographs, animal restraint, vaccinations, and keeping the clinic and kennels clean. 10-20% of time helping Medical Director with staff scheduling, inventory control, drafting & updating processes, and corrective actions for employees.

Requirements

  

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/staff/patrons.Excellent computer proficiency.  Chameleon experience a plus.Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary communication. Sense  of urgency, attention to detail, and flexibility are required.Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Ability   to have flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the clinic.High  school diploma or GED required. Previous veterinary technician of four years duration required. Previous  leadership experience in a high volume clinic AND shelter required.LVT/RTV/CVT a plus. Spanish speaking ability a plus, but not required
