40hours + Call


Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in this role is a specialized perioperative nurse, responsible for providing expert care before, during, and after surgical procedures. After completing additional education and training, this nurse serves as the key coordinator of all activities in the operating room — including the management of personnel, equipment, supplies, and the surgical environment.

The RN ensures effective communication among all members of the surgical team in sterile attire and serves as a patient advocate, educator, research consumer, and professional role model. Responsibilities may also include monitoring patients during local procedures, back injections, and throughout the recovery phase.

Essential Duties:

  • Interprets clinical and diagnostic data, recognize the abnormal, and reports to MD/ Anesthesia/ODS, or other OR staff members.
  • Verifies completeness of chart, assesses needs of the patient.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures by initiating nursing care according to the needs of patients; coordinate supplies, knowledge of usage of various equipment. Maintains a safe, calm, and clean atmosphere.
  • Documents all necessary information, including sponge and needle counts, I.V. fluids, medications, blood loss, and implants.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned or delegated.
  • Complies with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Requirements

License Requirements:

  • Must have a current RN Maine license.
  • Maintains current BLS.
  • Obtains ACLS and PALS within 1 year of hire 

Availability:

  • Fulfills requirements of employment status as well as "on-call" duties.
